I don’t believe therapy should feel like someone sitting across from you, telling you what you should be doing with your life.
You know yourself better than anyone. My role is to help you slow things down, make sense of what’s happening beneath the surface and explore the patterns that might be keeping you stuck.
I'm an Integrative Therapist, which means I draw from different therapeutic approaches rather than believing there is one approach that works for everyone.
I will give you space to talk about what is happening for you right now, while challenging you to look at where those patterns came from. Together we can explore how past experiences have shaped the way you see yourself and others, and the thoughts and beliefs that might be influencing how you respond to life.
Sometimes that means sitting with something difficult. Sometimes it means challenging a thought that isn’t serving you. Sometimes it means understanding why you keep finding yourself in the same situation. And sometimes you just need someone to help you untangle the 47 tabs currently open in your brain.
I also believe therapy can be practical. Understanding yourself is important, but so is having things you can actually take into everyday life. Where appropriate, we might use CBT-informed tools, reflection, behavioural strategies or practical exercises to help you put that understanding into action.
Therapy isn’t about becoming someone completely different. It’s about understanding yourself with more compassion, becoming more aware of your patterns and having more choice in how you respond to your life. There is no perfect version of you waiting to be uncovered.
You don’t have to wait until things are falling apart to come to therapy. You can come because you want to understand yourself better. Because something keeps happening and you don’t know why. Because you’re overwhelmed. Because a relationship isn’t working. Because you’ve lost your sense of yourself. Or simply because you know something needs to change, but you can’t quite work out what.
